Split button

When to use

  • One action is clearly the default and a small group (2–5) of related variants of the same action exists: Send → Send later, Send and create task, Save as draft.
  • The default action must stay one click away; the variants are occasional.

When not to use

  • No action is the default one — use a Button that opens a menu (Přidat aktivitu in the timeline).
  • The menu items are unrelated actions — use the kebab (Icon button) menu of the record.
  • Only one alternative exists — two plain Buttons are clearer.

Anatomy

  1. Main action — .acrm-btn with the label; a click runs the default action.
  2. Chevron — square .acrm-btn.acrm-split-more with chevron-down; opens the menu.
  3. Divider — the shared border (default) or a light 1px line (primary).
  4. Menu — DS Popover with .acrm-popover-item rows (icon · label), groups separated by .acrm-popover-sep, aligned to the start (left edge) of the split button; it flips to the end only when it would not fit (owner 26 Sep 2026, acrm !3903 place.ts).

Sizes

  • Default — --control-h, for toolbars, dialog footers, section top bars.
  • Compact — 24px, only inside table and list rows (--row-h).

Best practices

Do

  • Keep the main label a verb that is also true for every menu variant.
  • Use primary at most once per container.

Don't

  • Don't put destructive actions into the menu.
  • Don't use danger or ghost appearance — split button is default or primary only.

Content

  • Main label: verb, sentence case („Odeslat"). Menu items: the full variant („Odeslat později"), not a fragment.
  • Button, Picker menu, Popover.
